Gudhi Padwa is a spring festival that is celebrated by Marathi and Konkani Hindus as well as other Hindus, marking the beginning of a new year. During this time, a new Hindu year begins according to the lunisolar calendar in and around Maharashtra, Goa, and Damaon, which uses the lunisolar method. It is also known as Padava (or Paadvo) according to Sanskrit, which means the first day of a lunar fortnight. A variety of colorful rangoli patterns adorn the streets during the spring festival, along with a special Gudhi dvaja In Sindhi culture, this day is observed as the emergence day of Lord Jhulelal and is celebrated as Cheti Chand. However, this is not the universal Hindu new year. In certain regions, including Gujarat and the surrounding area, the new year coincides with the five-day festival of Diwali. Others celebrate the new year on Vaisakhi between 13 and 15 April, according to the lunar cycle of the Hindu lunisolar calendar, which is the most popular not only among Hindus of the Indian subcontinent but also among Buddhists and Hindus throughout southeast Asia.
