When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, a cloud of uncertainty took over the otherwise normal humdrum of life. The pandemic has also been instrumental in altering the way the world celebrated weddings. However, some love stories are worth every bit of the celebration despite what the circumstances are. One such story is of Nisha and Gaurav who celebrated their wedding on the 7th and the 8th of March 2020.

They have been one of those few lucky couples whose wedding was celebrated right before the country went under a complete lockdown. The couple in their mid-thirties had a beautiful wedding and here are all the details of their fairytale wedding. Read to take a peek inside their heart-melting story and don't forget to bookmark the decor pictures for inspiration.

It All Started @ A Concert

Bollywood movies might have shown us how the world stops still and the winds blow in slow motion with violins in the backdrop when you find the love of your life. However, love off the reels has its own way of walking into your life - in the most unexpected place with the most unexpected circumstance. Such was the story of Nisha & Gaurav.

Have you ever imagined yourself in the middle of a concert, finding the love of your life? Well, having met at a Foo Fighters concert in Singapore through a mutual friend, Gaurav and Nisha call it their, "Love at first sight kind of connection." They hit it off immediately and they were together for about two to two and a half years until Gaurav went down on one knee and she said YES!

The duo enjoys a lot in common and in Nisha’s own words, “We have hectic schedules from a work perspective. I am a Lawyer by profession and Gaurav a consultant. So we keep similar hours and levels of stress/workload. Gaurav also travels quite a bit for work. We absolutely love doing some sort of physical activity together. Whether we run or play a sport, we love being outdoors and being active when we get a chance over the weekends.  Equally as much we love as much quiet time alone we can get over the weekends. We’ll typically sit together, watching some mindless television (reading and taking a nap, all simultaneously!) and maybe some wine by evening, while ordering food in. That’s typically what we’d like to do on a weekend.”

Nisha and Gaurav's wedding was in the making for almost 1 year. They invested a lot of time and expectations in making their big day a perfect one. The clarity and precision that the couple planned the wedding with was extraordinary and made everyone's work quite the cakewalk. Nisha is a South Indian bride and Gaurav is a groom from the North. Their impeccable wedding was celebrated in an Arya Samaj tradition. This was followed by the Sangeet, leaving day 2 for all their family and friends to relax and celebrate. Their destination wedding was celebrated on day 1 of their 2-day wedding ceremony at The Raviz Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.

Heena Sadhwani thoroughly enjoyed working with Nisha and Gaurav in planning their wedding and she says, "Both in their thirties, it was a refreshing change to see them wholly involved in the decision making for their wedding, which was almost a year in the making, without any parental involvement.  Their warm and down to earth personalities were perfectly captured and celebrated during the course of their 2-day wedding."

The Wedding Guests, Decor & Themes

Even though their wedding was planned through 2019 and the wedding dates were way before the pandemic actually hit India in full swing forcing the government to put the country on complete lockdown, some of their guests could not make it to the wedding. While in India there was still time, many countries across the globe were already fighting the pandemic. They are both living and working in Singapore and therefore they had quite many guests coming over from Singapore and other parts of the globe. But due to their discomfort to travel, the guestlist came down to 120 from the original 150.

The theme and decor of each of the events on the itinerary were closely influenced by the couple's personal life and stories. For instance, the welcome lunch was inspired by the idyllic locale of Italy, where the couple had a very memorable 10-day vacation. Famous for its food and wineries, a hub for the finest olive oil and avant-garde fashion, this welcome lunch was a coming together of the couple’s family, friends and cultures to kickstart the wedding celebrations with the charm of the Italian land.

The tropical-themed wedding captured the essence of Nisha’s bohemian spirit, combined with both their colourful yet subtle personalities. With a teepee mandap, wild floral arrangements and casual lounge seating, this sundowner beach wedding was the perfect setting for our couple to tie the knot. They also had a Holi themed brunch the following day.

Inspired by the couple’s penchant for all things cosy, a retro outdoor movie night setting was created to wrap up their wedding celebrations, complete with lots of intimate corners and cosy lounges. The screening of The Sound Of Music and everyone singing along the musical was the cherry on top to give an epic ending to their wedding.

Their Attires Were A Perfect Concoction of the North & South

Nisha flaunted a serene white saree with a thick golden border on the day of the welcome lunch. To complement her beautiful outfit, Gaurav was seen in a crisp white kurta and white dhoti with a broad golden border matching the bride-to-be's outfit. Bringing the essence of the south Indian culture and upholding the beauty of the south, the brunch also had mehndi artists who were painting the palms of the guests with beautiful henna.

For the Haldi brunch, the duo flaunted simple kurta pyjama sets. Nisha was seen in an off-white kurta with matching churidar and Gaurav flaunted a green cotton kurta with a green jacket to top it off.

For the wedding ceremony, Nisha was the quintessential Sabyasachi bride in a breathtaking off-white floral lehenga with stunning delicate embroidery throughout the piece and a matching net dupatta. Gaurav, on the other hand, wore an off-white sherwani to match the tropical essence of their wedding. The sherwani boasted of ditsy floral shaped embroidery running finely throughout the piece. The couple complemented each other perfectly and their pictures have captured the absolute candid nature of the duo.

The Stunning Team

Every wedding is a project and the success of this project is heavily dependent on the team that works on it. To make sure that your wedding is absolutely unforgettable, the team of planners, decorators, photographers, caterers and even the staff at the venue play a very significant role. To put together a mesmerising wedding for Nisha and Gaurav, the decoration, designs, styling, planning and conceptualisation was done by the ace team of The A-Cube Project and the props and furniture rentals were done by the luxury rental House of A-Cube.

The team who took care of the production was the Wedding Factory. The team of Seed Events was responsible for hospitality and logistics. The duo had also hired professional bartenders for the 2 days, The Wedding Bartenders to take care of the all the cocktails and mocktails without any glitches.

Nisha and Gaurav's wedding was not literally one of those weddings in the Times of Corona stories even though there was a slight effect of the pandemic on their guest list. However, this wedding was nothing short of a dreamy affair and a pleasing memory of the mindblowing wedding celebrations before the pandemic took a toll.
