Veggies to the rescue

The Indian Catering Company

The best diet tip is to have lots of green leafy vegetables in your diet. Eat out of your own kitchen instead of running after the attractive packaging of processed foods claiming to be of high dietary value. The dietary market foods will do more harm than good as they deprive you of many nutrients. Here are some of the must-have vegetables that you should be consuming as a part of your bridal diet.

1. Ladyfinger

Excellent superfood if you’re looking to reduce water retention in your body. It’s a rich source of protein, carbohydrates and dietary fibre that will help balance your body weight.

2. Pumpkin

It is a low-calorie vegetable that has high vitamin A and fibre content. It can fill your stomach without getting deposited as excess fat. So cheer up, bride-to-be!

3. Bottle gourd

When cooked or juiced, it works well as a sedative and as an anti-bilious agent. It is low in calories, high in dietary fibre and has a high-water content making it easy to digest the food.

And The Expert Ingredient - Sound Sleep!

Of course, this is the biggest 'superfood' of them all. Ample rest, not just in the days leading up to your wedding but past that as well, will ensure that you stay refreshed and calm. We all know, how cranky we used to get during the exam days when we tried skipping on the minimum of 6-7 hours of sleep. No one wants to be a bridezilla or have eye bags and dark circles showing on their wedding day. So get due rest each night.

It’s about changing lifestyle, and not crashing into it. Some soon-to-be brides try surviving on salads to get into shape. But post-wedding once you start binging during the numerous family dinners, your body tends to put on quickly, that too unhealthy weight gain. Avoid depriving your body of regular meals, avoid indulging in excess because everything should be consumed in moderation. Try and have four meals a day, at least, don’t skip any. Take all nutrients including carbs, fats and proteins. Drink lots of water and most importantly, remain stress-free!
