A Wedding Worth Remembering – The Club, International City Made It Happen!

Choosing The Club, International City, Sobha – Sector 109, Gurgaon (Dwarka Expressway) for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. The venue not only matched our vision but far exceeded our expectations in every possible way.

From the first visit itself, we were impressed by the ambience, cleanliness, and layout of the property. The combination of a lush green lawn and an elegantly designed indoor banquet gave us the flexibility to plan multiple events — haldi, mehndi, sangeet, pheras, and reception — all under one roof, each with its own character and charm.

The decor was mesmerizing. The Club’s decor team turned our ideas into a visual masterpiece — from traditional elements for the wedding to a vibrant and energetic setup for the sangeet. Every single detail, right from the entry gate to the mandap, was beautifully done and set the perfect tone for every function.

The culinary experience was top-tier. Guests were treated to an array of carefully curated cuisines — each dish was flavorful, fresh, and served with the kind of finesse you'd expect at a luxury event. Special mention to the live counters and desserts, which were a massive hit!

What truly made the difference, however, was the hospitality. The Club team — from the General Manager to the on-ground banquet and service staff — was incredibly supportive, responsive, and attentive throughout. Every guest felt welcomed and cared for. Their coordination and presence behind the scenes gave us peace of mind and allowed us to fully enjoy our celebration.

We booked The Club, International City, Gurgaon for my sister's wedding in April 2025, and unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of a nightmare. Despite months of planning and detailed discussions, the execution was a complete failure due to the venue's gross mismanagement, false promises, and unprofessionalism.

1. The Biggest Letdown – The Pool Haldi That Never Happened
One of the primary reasons we selected this venue was the swimming pool facility for our haldi ceremony. The idea of a vibrant, fun haldi by the pool with pool games was a major part of our vision. In fact, we hired a highly paid anchor specifically to plan and host pool games for the event.

While planning with the venue months before the function, we were clearly told that we could even jump into the pool and make it as lively and fun as we wanted. The owner had told the groom’s father that the pool wasn’t running “as of now” but would be made fully functional in time. I personally reconfirmed this with the groom’s father, who clearly said the owner had assured him that “it won’t be a problem.”

However, just the evening before the haldi, the manager informed us out of nowhere that the pool could not be used at all, citing vague “regulations” that were never mentioned during the months of back-and-forth planning.

- We were first told that the pool couldn’t be filled with water.
- Then, we were offered a "rain dance" alternative (with additional charges for water tankers), which we reluctantly agreed to.
- A few hours later, they backtracked again, claiming we’d be fined ₹1.5 lakh if we went ahead.
- We were left with no choice but to move the function to an open area under the blazing sun, where many of our guests skipped the event due to discomfort.

On top of that, we had to scrap the entire set of pool games that had been planned for weeks. The anchor, under immense pressure, came up with new concepts just a couple of hours before the haldi. I didn’t even have a chance to properly review or approve them — we were forced to go ahead with whatever was possible at the last minute. This completely diluted the spirit and energy we had envisioned for the event.

What was meant to be a standout moment of the wedding became a compromise and a disappointment — all because of the venue’s last-minute backpedaling and miscommunication.

2. Engagement Chaos – Promises Broken, Staff Missing
We were promised two separate halls:

- One with round tables for dining,
- Another in theatre-style setup for performances.

But on the day of the event, everything was cramped into a single hall without any prior notice. We had bride and family performances planned, and ended up removing round tables ourselves in our wedding outfits to make way for the stage and entries.

Despite clearly requesting on-call support for mattress setup/removal on stage for multiple ceremonies, no staff showed up. We were doing all of it manually while dressed in formal wedding attire.

To make it worse, ACs were turned off during the engagement performances, creating a suffocating environment where guests began leaving early. We were not behind schedule — everything was on time. It was purely a result of mismanagement.

3. Hygiene, Hospitality & Basic Services – Completely Absent

- Guest rooms were not cleaned the next day.
- No toiletries or water bottles were replenished unless repeatedly asked.
- I requested just four cups of tea, which were delivered over an hour later after more than 10 follow-up calls.
- The housekeeping staff complained about their own management and seemed frustrated just to be asked for basic service.

4. Unacceptable Pressure for Payment – During the Wedding!

On the evening of the wedding ceremony, while the groom was already under pressure managing the final function and attending to guests, the owner repeatedly called him demanding full payment before the ceremony could begin.

Despite a prior understanding that half payment could be made post-wedding, the groom was stressed into paying the full amount before the pheras. This kind of emotional pressure on a groom hours before his wedding is completely unacceptable.

5. Food – Discrepancies, Repetition, and Lack of Quality
Even after multiple rounds of menu finalization and confirmations, there were still significant lapses:

- Several promised items were missing.
- Some dishes were repeated from lunch to dinner functions on the same day.
- No one was available to serve desserts, and one of the desserts (Kheer) was actually spoiled and had to be taken away.
- Items were substituted without informing us — and not in a good way.

Examples of Menu Issues:
- Dinner:
Missing: Papad, Cut Fruits, Coffee, Litchi ki Tehri (given Rabri instead)
Veg Biryani served instead of Kathal Biryani
Kheer was spoiled

- Lunch:
Missing: Dahi Bhalla

Final Thoughts:
What should have been a beautiful, memorable family event turned into an emotionally exhausting experience, largely due to false promises, poor communication, and unprofessional conduct by the venue team.

They lured us in with attractive promises — especially the pool — and then pulled the rug out from under us at the last minute. The lack of staff support, disregard for basic services, and unethical behavior around payment only added to the disappointment.

We do not recommend this venue for any wedding or major celebration. It’s not just about logistics — it’s about trust and dignity, and this place failed on both counts.

We had a wedding event in January it was fabulous amazing experience with lovely food and great hospitality. Nice pool where we had pheras with lovely decor. Overall experience was superb

I cannot express enough gratitude to The Club International City for making our wedding celebrations truly unforgettable. From the moment we stepped into the venue, we knew we had made the right choice.

The ambiance was elegant and beautifully maintained, creating the perfect backdrop for our special day. The Haldi ceremony by the poolside was a magical experience—intimate, vibrant, and picture-perfect. The food was an absolute delight, with every dish crafted to perfection and loved by all our guests.

Beyond the aesthetics and flavors, what truly stood out was the seamless experience. The staff was professional, attentive, and ensured that everything ran smoothly. The ample parking was a huge plus, making it convenient for our guests to enjoy the celebration stress-free.
